Janine, are we supposed to start our own threads for our blog or ask questions here in this thread? (...she asks after already starting her own thread!)

Hello! I have a blog that is geared towards fitness and a little bit of nutrition. My design on my blog is very generic and I'm a little confused on what type of eye catching design to put on my blog. Also, where can I get the design template? www.prettyinpinkfitness.wordpress.com Thank you!

Hi xjasmine3, I see you are on Wordpress.com, you can find new themes under appearances and themes on your dashboard. Here you can try new themes and hopefully find one you like. If you are looking for more personal like making your own header or even background, you can use a program called PicMonkey. Also, if you wanted to have even more control over design and layout, you can transfer over to Wordpress.org (self-host). This does cost more out of pocket and totally up to you, as far as your blogging goals, but it an option nonetheless.

Hi my blog is about my family and personal musings. I redid my design about a year ago but I was wondering if I need to tweak it more. I tried to put disqus comment system on it but it doesn't seem to work. I don't know if I need to do anything else with the design. lunar-tide.blogspot.com

beachcomber, I have installed Disqus on Blogger Blogspot in the past. I do believe you have to just go to the top menu on the home page disqus.com and click on "Add Disqus to Your Site". From there you put your info in and then on the next screen, it will ask what platform. You click "Blogger" and then once you follow the prompts to indeed install on the last screen, it will open a blank window. This window can be closed. You will then check the layout tab of your Blogger Blog on your dashboard and should find the widget for Disqus added at the top. Once it is added, just save your layout and Disqus should be installed. As for your design, I think it looks good. I can navigate it fairly easily. One thing I do notice missing is a subscribe to e-mail updates for your blog, which you may want to add. But for the most part, I think you have done a great job setting up

Hi there, I'm with wordpress.org. I started out my blog thinking it would be about parenting (I have 7 kids) or about some of the tragedies my children and I have been through while sharing life stories. Lately I've gotten heavily into giveaways and reviews. So I truly feel I'm nicheless. Is this ok? I love the giveaways and reviews but want to recommit myself to content (real content) at least twice a week. What do you folks think of this little bit of everything? My blog is heartbeatssoulstains.com. any feedback at all would be awesome

Thanks jnine0712. I will check out disqus website again to see if I see the "add disqus to your site". Thanks for the feedback. How do you do e-mail updates for ones blog?

beachcomber Aww, now worries and hope that this helps for Disqus. As for adding a Follow by E-mail, it is just a sidebar widget. So, in Layout, "ADD a Gadget" and then go down to "Follow by E-mail". This should allow you to add the subscription gadget pretty easily from there

Hi, I'm Sue and I have a pet/dog blog which is geared toward coupons. I use a static front page because I thought Google would look favorably on this and help my page rank. I know that Google loves fresh content which I have, it's just not on my home page. I'm still starring at a big old Goose Egg 0. Please leave me your thoughts about my static page and the look of my blog. Really glad to be here and be interacting with my peers. Blogging is a lonely passion. www.bowwowblog.comPS - All the blogs look great!

beachcomber, Did you safe the layout once it showed up? If you don't save the layout, it probably wouldn't show up. Debbie @ Heartbeats Soul Stain, I did a lot of giveaways and linkups at one point, too. I have come to the point where I do one linkup on my site a week and only do giveaways sporadically. I think each of these are great, but too much can truly get overwhelming not just for your readers, but for you, as well, especially for balance sake. naotuck, I love your layout and very cute play on Post-Its. The one thing I may add offhand is something in the white space to the right of your header maybe social media buttons just so that the white space is minimal. @sue Chody I think you have a great concept going for you and definitely a unique niche. That said, when I looked at your blog, I was a bit lost as to where to begin, especially with your menu bars and sidebars. The content is great like I said, but I would try to use a theme that clearly shows the separation of menu and sidebars from the actual content. And the static page can work, but again depends on theme you are using. Mobile responsive themes usually do this best, but can be costly. So, I do understand some hesitation maybe there from some, as well. But again you want your content to shine and stick out for those who do come upon your front page to want to continue in further, because you do have so much relevant and great content to indeed offer.

I'm honestly not sure where I fit. I blog about surviving rasiing the 5 Minions at home, marriage, news and human interest stuff, homeschooling, a bit of everything, but try and use humour all the time. I'm *guessing* that 'Parenting' is probably most likely, but I don't give parenting advice, more commiseration for others slogging through, who are as imperfect as I am. If you are willing to give an opinion of category (because I'm so not intending to be an parenting 'example' or encouraging others to do what I do, rather inviting them to laugh w/me at the chaos) I'm here: notastepfordlife.com
