I am who I am and I like who that is ... even on the days I have no idea what any of that means!

What are some tried and true ways to get great and clear shots of your recipes - whether it's the process or the final version of what you've made - how do you avoid the glare, get the lighting just right, make sure the food looks super appetizing and more?
It should be super easy, it's not like the subjects of the pics can move, but food pictures can make or break whether your post gets shared or not, especially in this day of Pinterest and StumbleUpon!

Hi Andrea, In the beginning, I thought the easiest way to a decent shot was by shooting on the aperture setting. The camera pretty much takes care of lighting adjustment and focus for you. You just have to know where to focus and how much focus you want. However, shooting on manual gives you much more control over the image pre-production; you can easily control focus and how light/dark the image is which cuts down tremendously on post production editing. However, it's my opinion that lighting is the most important element to getting a good shot. Some bloggers swear by natural lighting, but I like to shoot in both natural and artificial lighting. Also, I think learning how to style food is a biggie in making it look appetizing...

Oh man, this is a thread I'm going to follow religiously. I also need help with food photography--I surprise myself with how badly my pictures turn out sometimes, haha!

I love using fotor.com to edit pictures for my blog, especially food photos. They also have an app so it's super easy to edit pictures you take straight off your phone! Although fotor.com does a great job editing and touching up my photos, it still seems like I'm missing some trick to taking perfect food pictures; if anyone has any special tricks, please add them I would love to know! I have a few food pictures on my blog if you want to check them out: colormepurpple.wordpress.com
