So I had been wondering how bloggers are able to break their post up by installing "read more" in their posts. I have WordPress and found the link that allows you to insert page breaks.
But when I preview the post it doesn't do anything-how do you split your posts up by entering a "read more" page breaks? Thanks in advance!

It won't show up in the preview as that's the full post. It will only show up if you for example have full posts shown on your front page instead of excerpts. However, if you are doing that I suggest going to Settings > Reading and checking the "Summary" option for "For each article in a feed, show " that way you won't have to manually do it*. *If your theme supports excerpts. If not you can enter it manually or add the code necessary so it does support them (or get someone else to do that for you). www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-display-a-read-more-link-in-wordpress-excerpts/

Thank You. I did see an option under settings to change it to Summary option. I checked my blog and it didn't seem to work-did I miss a step?

Oh and also, when I open up to add a new post, there is an option I noticed called "insert read more tag"-this isn't something I can use?

As I mentioned, some themes don't support it and you'd have to install the code for that function manually (see tutorial link in previous post). If you don't want to do that then you will have to use the read more tag and insert it into every, single post you want to have it.

Yea,which is the route I was going,by adding it manually, which is not a problem,so I clicked on it and it made this page break, but then when I hit preview it doesn't work.

Like I said, it doesn't work in single post view because that view shows the full post. It will only work if your post is shown somewhere else, like in the archives. en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/"You can truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of certain posts is displayed on the home and archive pages.
