Hello there! Does anyone of you use WordPress Premium? Last year, I put up with my blog again, but I still have the same problems with when I was too frustrated to go on blogging. Generally, I just don't like that you have to pay WordPress to give you access to changing your theme on your ways and implement Google Analytics, just to give a few examples. I don't have an own domain yet, but I'm definitely thinking about getting one, and as I want to have better control over my future blog, I'm wondering whether to get Premium and hence an own domain name and access to all Premium features at once instead of buying a domain and a higher access to all WordPress features seperately. My question would be, does anyone of you have some experience? Is WordPress Premium worth it? (I think it is but just to be sure ) More explicit, do you know whether I can take all the content that's on my future blog by domain with me if I change from WordPress to another supplier? Thank you so much in advance. I'm really looking forward to your answers. Maybe I'm not on this journey alone? Lots of love! <3

I have never used WordPress premium - I wasn't even aware that that was a thing. But to be perfectly honest, if you are going to spend money... Just purchase a domain name and your own hosting space. Host the otherwise completely free WordPress software yourself. That is the best way to have complete control of your blog. In fact, no matter what you decide... get a domain name. It is sincerely the single most important first step of blog ownership in my opinion. It's professional and makes readers sure that you are sure of your blog.

TBH, you can get a better deal if you buy your own domain & hosting. You can get hosting for $35/yr with a small orange, or $3.75/mo with Blue Host for example. some hosts even give free domains (like blue host) but those should run about $10-20/year or less (if you find a coupon - register.com sometimes have them for 99 cent domains). WordPress.com hosted accounts, even the paid ones, STILL have restrictions on them, and I think that includes what types of ads you can run on them (if you plan on monetizing in the future).

WordPress.com with domain mapping has its uses if you're new to blogging and don't want to host a blog yourself. Premium is going a bit far, though. It's way more expensive than just hosting it yourself and getting all the benefits of custom plugins and the like. If you're serious, migrate to self-hosted instead.
