I'm considering getting the genesis framework to help streamline my theme development process and I'm looking for feed back on them from other bloggers and theme developers a like! Is it worth the money? Should I even bother with it?

There is a learning curve but once I got the hang of it, I really liked it. What I really like is that both Wordpress and Genesis can be updated without having go in a reset all of the changes I made to the theme.
I currently use Lifestyle Pro.

I used the Genesis framework several years ago for a different project and I liked it. I agree with the above - it was nice to be able to do the updates without losing all of the changes I'd made to my theme. If you like using themes but find you are always customizing something, it might be a good framework for you.

When I switched to WordPress the Genesis framework was what I was put on. As a newbie WordPress user, I really found it user-friendly but I can't say anything negative about it because it's all I used. I use the Beautiful Pro Theme.

Just purchased a new blog theme and had to download Genesis, can you explain what it is really?

Genesis is a frame work on top of a frame work. So for example... There are core things that make WordPress what it is. Genesis is a frame work that comes with certain functionality, shortcodes, etc with interchangeable themes.
In all technicality, Genesis is a theme in itself. To make it less confusing, it's often referred to as a frame work. The themes you use with it are called Child Themes.

Studiopress uses a nice analogy to explain it: WordPress is the car engine, Genesis is the car frame, the paint job is the child theme. www.studiopress.com/get-started (scroll down to the car graphic)

I use the Genesis Framework to run my site (which I custom built on it) and to build all of my premade and custom themes. I love it and have no plans on changing frameworks any time in the future. I highly recommend it, and there is a great community of individuals who are always willing to help you with customizing. The possibilities are endless with it!

I love using the Genesis Framework! I started using it about 4 years ago and never looked back! It's just so flexible and the people behind it, StudioPress are great with their customer service!
