Wow, I thought there would be more participation. More traffic, More money. I see your blog is about coupons, my site www.bowwowblog.com is a pet site with pet coupons. How do you bring traffic to your blog?

suebird -For me personally, I’ve used many ways. Social media is my best friend Making posts on your own social media platforms as well as participating on other peoples’ pages. On other people’s pages you don’t want to spam their page, but just give input if someone asks a question. If they like what you say they might go to your profile and see that you have a couponing blog. Always put your blog as a part of your place of employment on social media sites and make sure that part of your profile is public. Then make sure it links to your blog or to your blog’s social media page like Facebook. Also, many couponing blogs, mine included, have a section where you can share a deal with them. For instance, if someone submits a deal to me, I’ll post the deal on my site and then give the person who submitted the deal credit. I’ll link to the person’s site saying something like “Thank You______ for sharing this fabulous deal! Word of mouth is a BIG one for me too. Couponing naturally comes up for me when I am shopping. People always ask about it because I have my binder and that gives me an in to talk about it. After chatting back and forth, I typically say “I actually own a couponing website and I would love to help you save. Here’s a card for you.” Or “ let me give you my website.” I have business cards to give out for when it comes up. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Honestly, I would love any hints, tips or tricks about this. I'm not sure if I'm using social media as effectively as I could, b/c I've no clue what I'm doing. Some ideas for how to use that most effectively would be great...anything would be great.

Hello! I'm an old blogger reinventing myself and my focus:) Going from IT to academia. I just started building out my blog and am working (over the next few months and years) on just putting great content up. I need to build my expertise in my new field. I'm thinking that once I have good articles for my niche market, there will be plenty to publicize and work with. Yes, I'd love likes on my Facebook page, followers on my Twitter, visits to my blog, my Instagram, or Tumblr, (I know right), I set these pages up so that I don't have to worry about it later. Most people go to multiple sites to have their blog feed their twitter or facebook page. I just spent a weekend finding the right tools to have certain apps feed into all the social media outlets I want to use. For instance, right now, I'm really big on instagram quotes. So I have instagram post to my facebook page, twitter and tumblr. I'm not big on facebook fan pages, because now, in order for people to see your posts, they have to keep liking your posts, but one day, my students may want to see my posts in their feed and what I write on my blog will automatically pop up there. After I get to 100 likes on Facebook, I'll may boost my page with ads. Not really a big thing right now because my expertise in the leadership field needs more time to brew. Just my thoughts, Pamela

I wouldn't suggest wasting money on boosts and ads on Facebook, just my 2 cents!

I'am certainly not an expert by any means, but I have seen my views increase when linking up to blog linky parties. If you find a blog that hosts a certain link party for your niche you can find a lot of people interested in the same things, which is good news!! If you find a way to engage them (linking up a great, well written post) you have the potential to find new readers. Also, put yourself out there. What do I mean by that? Find a large blog that fits your genre and ask to guest post! Whats the worse that could happen? Okay, they could say no.. but don't give up...keep trying! I have had good luck with this method. Generally what I do is find a photography/parenting blog (that's my niche) with lots of followers (or at least one that is regularly active), and I write them a brief email about myself, give links to some of my best articles/photos, cross my fingers and push send. Also, don't be afraid to ask others to share your posts (if you have a facebook page) sometimes just asking your friends to share is all it takes to push one of your posts out there a little farther. Don't forget to hashtag your posts either. I have had repostings of my tweets by larger groups by tweeting '@' them or using a hashtag that suits their genre. For example, I wrote a blog post about my daughter hunting with her dad. I tweeted about it and put: #elkhunter And much to my surprise I had a retweet of my posting by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation! That wouldn't of happened if I didn't hashtag my tweet. I hope that helps! I am still learning and would love to hear more tips and tricks. My main problem is I have a post blow up for a day then it dies down and I have to keep on the momentum which can be extremely hard. Here is my blog if your interested! www.justleesha.comIm always looking for tips on improvement or what people would like to see, so give me a shout if you have ideas and I will always return the favor.

I have been trying to increase my traffic by participating in linky parties, commenting on other blogs, posting sharing, and commenting on FB, pinterest, twitter, and google, sharing others post on a daily basis. And trying to make improvements on my blog. Plus trying to write 3 post a week. I feel like I'm getting no where. I work a full time job on top of this. I have read that you have to be consistent, and share mostly others post, and I have been but I'm starting to get discouraged.

I've been deeply invested in growing my blog the last month - honing keyword posts and then sharing across social media platforms - and although I have seen an increase, the rate of return almost feels like its not worth it. How do you get past the "maybe I should just give up" attitude, or am I the only one that faces it?
