I started my beauty blog this July and I'm learning as I go. I'm a little reluctant to post this because I'm opening up myself to criticism but then I've decided that I'm open to it and need to know what I can do to improve. I'm so happy to have found The Sits Girls because I've already learned so much and also this forum and having mentors is a genius idea because I do need some support. Thank you so much! And please do not be afraid to comment because I really want to hear what you have to say. beautybymitchypoo.com

First and foremost, I LOVE the theme you used. It is one of my favorites!! Second, how did you get your Ipsy bag already? Mine just shipped. I am kinda jealous and love what you got.
Personally, I am not a fan of the social media widgets. I would remove them, and just put social media buttons up. Your readers that are interested, will click through and follow that way. Leaving your blog with the clean look that you are after.

Thanks for your reply Katryan! Honestly, I don't know how I got ipsy so quick because I just got the shipping notice yesterday but it was in my mailbox today. About the social media buttons, do you have a good site to create them?

That is crazy fast. I got my shipping notice today, and an estimated delivery of Next Wed. Ugh I am not a fan of this waiting. I swear I am like a two year and I want to open it NOW lol.
For the social media buttons, I used a widget. Its called Floating Social (I think). It comes with lots of pre-done designs and was really easy to set up.

I agree about the social media buttons. You do actually have them in your little "about me" in the sidebar, but I would get some custom ones. You can play around with Picmonkey to make some, you can google "free social media buttons" or you can buy some on Etsy (usually they're just a couple dollars). I would also like to see a picture of you in the sidebar. I'd like to see your sidebar cleaned up in general - get rid of the commentors widget, move the various buttons into a footer, trim it down in general. The whole meta section could go, the blog stats could go - trim up anything not necessary. Write a real "about me" in the sidebar. Currently, you have "Owner/Writer of beautybymitchypoo.com. Please come and visit." That's completely unnecessary because they're already there! Go with something along the lines of "My name is Michelle, and I'm passionate about (this), (that), and (the other). I believe women are beautiful at any age!" Remove the Bloglovin' link from the top of each post, and while I like that you have a little disclosure notification, move it to the bottom. Having those up there creates too much awkward white space. The fact that they seem to be aligned to the right doesn't help. I would like to see you work on your photography settings some - are you using an actual camera or are you using a phone? If you're using an actual camera, make sure it's on the macro focus selection (on my Canon, it's an icon of a flower). On your phone, make sure you're tapping the object in question and then giving it time to adjust. Your Ipsy pictures of the eyeliner and perfume oil are both focused on the background, not the product. You're taking pictures of your beauty products but the camera is actually focusing on the background, not the product itself. Take your photos in as much natural light as possible. And when you're watermarking them, stay consistent with your watermark! It's in different sizes and different fonts. The only thing that should be changing is the color, if necessary! Stop hashtagging everything. Stop putting irrelevant tags on things. Most of what you're posting has nothing to do with the SoCalBloggersSociety or SITSGirls. We already know we're reading Beauty By Mitchypoo so it doesn't need that. Hashtagging isn't necessary anyway since it's not Twitter or Instagram and we're not trying to find something a lot of people are doing. I hope I'm not coming across too harsh - but in order to really improve and grow, those are the design things I would change. Also, add me in on the "You got your Ipsy delivery already?!" side. I just got the notice mine has shipped. I am totally one of those people who looks at the sneak peak as soon as it's available. I NEED to know what I'm getting!
