I have a lot of experience with design, but I worry that my blog may be missing things that are important to the blogging community or that I don't have what my readers would expect to find. I've taken inspiration from a lot of blogs that I have seen. If I liked something enough, I took the concept and made it my own. Example: I really love the easy to find section in the sidebar that gives readers a place they can see some important categories or post types. But my blog is still growing. I've had this website for ages but only got serious about blogging back in August. So please excuse that I don't have a lot of content for you to go on here. There are a few things I am still working on (such as the fact that my theme doesn't have a new/old post pagination on the single posts at the moment). But what else would make my blog easier to read? I feel like my bounce rate is super high and I want to try to keep people on the page - which is why I am not using any major form of advertisement apart from accepting sponsorship and the occasional affiliate link. What am I missing? What would you do differently with my blog?

Hi Kimi! I would suggest doing post excerpts on the main page instead of several whole posts. For someone, like myself, that is not super familiar with your content, it can be helpful to get a quick overview of recent posts and then dive into the one that catches my eye.

I think it looks great. Easy to read, easy to navigate and everything about it is good. Except that part where you talk about watching Dr. Who. *shudder*

You can help lower your bounce rate by linking to your other posts inside each post, and then having nrelate or a related posts plugin at the bottom - or manually adding related links onto each post.
Your photos are great - I especially love the nail polish one on your main page. It's perfect.
I think your font is easy to read, I love the font and color that you use for links, too.
What do you use to have your search in the menu bar like that? I love it.

slapdashmomI actually do have nrelate running but it only shows on the single posts. I felt like it was too cluttered otherwise. I still feel like there's too much going on on the single posts but the things there are sort of important LOL Thank you for the praise. I'm currently borrowing a better camera from a friend and well, I have no idea how to use it. I'm trying to read up on it a bit but haven't had much time to practice. I mostly use it on auto. Haha The search bar is apart of my theme. I wouldn't doubt it if you could find something similar via a WordPress plugin.

Oh. And I have since fixed the single post navigation issue - now users can go from one post to the next that way. My bounce rate is slowly improving a bit as I'm learning how to correct it.

Hi Kim! I actually love your blog design! Very simple and pretty. I am personally a fan of the post excerpts (a preview of the posts with a "read more" link). However if you don't want to do that I suggest cutting down the posts per page to 2, just to keep the scroll bar short and let your visitors see your footer (because it's really well designed and laid out!)
