Hi! If I don't have "Newbie" stamped all over everything I say, then I'll just let you know from the start: I've been dreaming of blogging for a long time and finally took the plunge a few days ago. So, first things first: how does it look? I realize it's sort of plain thus far, but I've had to do a lot of learning about design, htmls, coding etc to get to this point. The other thing is networking. Any tips for me on how to reach out to the blogging community/increase readers to my own blog. Thanks so much! www.charmingimperfections.com

I think you're off to a great start! The colors of your website are very calming. A few things I notice right away:
Your social media links should open in a new tab or window, so I don't have to leave your site to visit them. Your menu font is a bit light - I'd make it bolder so it stands out more. I love that you have an "about" and a photo in the sidebar, but it's so small I can't read it.
Keep up the great work!

charmingimperfection - it's not bad for a start... a bit too much white. I'd go with putting a background and then your content in white.... possibly that nice dark blue you've got for your social icons.

Hello and welcome! Nice start for a newbie! (I say this with love because for one, I've been blogging for many years and I still consider myself a newbie, and two, you really ARE off to a great start!)
My first impressions are that the font and the bright pink titles hurt my eyes a bit. Maybe make the font bigger? Or not as dark? Is it bolded or is that just the font style? Also I'd stick with just a few fonts in the same font family.
Same goes for colors--I'd stick to the colors in your header and use just one or two of those tastefully throughout the site for headers, titles, hovers, etc.
I like your header and social icon shapes!
For more engagement, you may want to add a "Subscribe" widget in your sidebar.
And for networking? Well, that's the hard part! And one of my own weaknesses! You really do just have to do the work of promoting yourself and networking with people on social media and spend time commenting on blogs you love and blogs in your niche. And try to find a "tribe" that you can join. They are invaluable for help and support!
