Hi! I am Chrissy from Shine Bright Little Mama. My blog focuses on the little things that helps moms shine a little brighter I talk about mommy accessible fashion/beauty, easy recipes and parenting stories. I started my blog in September and hired someone to do the design. Now that I have been blogging for a few months, I have found that I really enjoy it! I will be attending my first blogging conference in April and want to do a re-design before that. I would love some suggestions on what to change/add...right now I feel like the look is a bit juvenile...maybe a bit difficult to navigate. With the re-design, I want to make sure that I do it right this time! Thank you for all of your help! You have no idea how excited I am about this mentoring opportunity Chrissy www.shinebrightlittlemama.com

Hi Chrissy! You are smart to think through a re-design very carefully before you invest in hiring a professional.
My first impressions - your current design is bright and simple, and I like that. I do agree that your header/logo has the feel of a baby-focused blog. Your kids are still young, but if you want your design to stay current for awhile, make it more oriented towards moms with preschool/elementary aged kids. Even a change of fonts will make your site feel more sophisticated.
I think your blog is easy to navigate. But I would pull some favorites or popular posts to highlight. You could change your homepage to show snippets of posts instead of full posts; that way a new reader can quickly browse and select what interests her. You could also use your footer more - keep your reader engaged when they get to the end of your post.
If you haven't done it already, I would suggest studying some of your favorite blogs' designs. What do you love, and what do you want to replicate on your own blog? Tell your designer, and give her links to these sites.
You say your blog focuses on the little things that help moms shine a little brighter. Why not use that as a tagline? It's your focus, and I think it ties your blog name into your mission.
Good luck

Hi Chrissy! Kesha here from We Got Kidz. I am in LOVE with your blog title and tagline. Ca-ute!! I don't think your blog is hard to navigate at all. It's actually quite simple to follow... maybe TOO simple? There's a lot of white space throughout. Maybe moving your logo to the left, shrinking its size a little, and bringing down your social media buttons could help. I also think that adding a third color to your color scheme and changing the font to something a little more standard (Open Sans, Myriad Pro) will help with the "juvenile" look you mentioned. Adding more photos that span the width of your content area will help too. You've got large blocks of unbroken text. That can make it hard for readers to stay focused. I want to see more of those three "incredible little monsters"! lol. Outside of that, your blog has tons of focus and spirit. I really get your voice. Love it! Kesha

Hey all. Just checking in to see if everyone is getting the feedback and help they want/need. It looks like you guys are really offering great suggestions. Makes me wish I was a mommy blogger. My kids are adults now but still living at home, which is a challenge all it's own... adults under one roof. It takes a little adjustment and getting used to.
