Hi guys! I've flip flopped between several different DIY graphics. I like what I've got a lot but that doesn't matter as much as what others think. I'm not a pro and don't own photoshop and can't figure out gimp. So yeah, constructive criticism, advice, tweaks for the whole design requested and appreciated! formyloveof.net

I would really recommend Canva.com if you are looking for a tool for your graphics or photos. It's free and super easy to use.
I love the DIY/vintage nature of your blog! When I was on your site the dark grey bar beneath your logo only went across the left side of your page. Not sure if it's intentional but if felt a little funky. I get lost easily, both online and in real life, but when I would click on your logo to go to your home screen. Before I knew it, there were like six open windows.
Although I love the surprise texture at the bottom of the page, that portion felt a little to tall. Maybe spread the content out sideways or prune some of it out?
Love that gold bamboo curtain rod! Definitely using that when we move in the spring!

You have some great diy/design posts. Keep up the good work! From a design perspective it seems like your ads are crowding out your content. I would make your sidebar skinnier and remove the ad across the top - it messes with your header too much, but that's just me. Your header if really nice by the way. I tried Canva recently. It seems like a tool worth getting used to if you don't have Photoshop or even if you do. I found it necessary to step up my photography skills when I started blogging but Canva can work too I think.

Your header is pretty pixelated. Canva is really awesome and pretty powerful I think it would be good for you. If you can't pay for a full Photoshop, Photoshop Express is cheaper and still really great. So you might want to check that out. I totally feel you on GIMP, I can't stand it. Another great image editor, though this is more of an Illustrator replacement in Inkscape (using an svg image will prevent any of that pixelation even on retina and other high def displays).
The gold used in your sidebar doesn't seem to really go with anything else on your site. The colors in your logo and blog posts go, but the gold in the sidebar is just in a few places in the sidebar. So I'd either replace it with the pink or draw in the gold elsewhere in your site design, for example the header image or as a hover effect on your links or something to make it look more cohesive.
I'd also work on making your font choices more cohesive. There's script in the sidebar (again only in the sidebar) and then the scifi like font on your logo and the blog post titles. So if you are planning on sticking with the scifi font, I'd change the script sidebar font to the scifi font.
In the sidebar some of your content is overwriting other parts of your content, like the blog her icon or ad. I'd make sure all your sidebar content is well placed and not running into each other. I'd also move your meet me widget up to the top of your sidebar, that's a very important thing for visitors to see!
Your footer is pretty huge. I'd see what you can do to clean it up and streamline it. Your popup window is tiny and looks like you should enter some sort of text in it, but it has a Facebook like button on it. So that makes it confusing. I'd find a better one that isn't as confusing and tells your visitors what you want them to do with it.
You are off to a good start and I think some small changes will go a long way to making your site look more cohesive and be more inviting to visitors.
